    Drink 8 glasses of water a day is just a myth ????

    The requirement to drink eight glasses of water a day in order to lose weight and stay healthy is a myth. Thus the opinion of a lecturer at La Trobe University Melbourne, Australia.

    In Australia, it is recommended that every day a grown man to drink 3.4 liters of water, while the women's 2.8-liter. However, not all of them have water.

    According to Spero Tsindos from La Trobe University, the need for water for the human body can be obtained from fruits, vegetables, juices, and even of drinking tea and coffee. "When you're thirsty, then drink anything. It does not have water," he said as quoted by various media Tsindos Australia, Wednesday (06/06/2012).

    "I'm also not saying you should not drink water. However, the need to drink 2 liters of water on a regular basis have no basis at all, alias myth."
    "We must tell the general public that the tea and coffee are also part of the needs of a person's body fluids, and despite the caffeine content, tea and coffee do not make the dehydration." Tsindos added.

    He also said the drinking water at once in large quantities is of no use because it will come out as urine. Drinking water as part of a diet to lose weight also is useless if not accompanied by physical exercise or low-calorie diet.

    "And, growing evidence suggests water and a balanced diet is more useful than just drinking plain water," he wrote in the Journal of Public Health Tsindos Australian and New Zealand.

    "Water is essential for health, but the recommendation of eight glasses a day does not have a clear scientific basis," said Tsindos.
    According to the Reuters correspondent in Australia, L Sastra Wijaya, grip eight glasses of water a day is apparently derived from the instructions issued in the United States the first time in 1945. Australia's Academy of Sciences recommends that everyone drink 2.5 liters of water a day. (Source kompas.com)
