Wakatobi
established as one of the World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in Indonesia. Yesterday,
Friday (06/07), Regent Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi (Southeast Sulawesi),
Hugua, went to Paris, France to receive a certificate of such determination.
"This afternoon, Mr. Regent departed from Turkey via Jakarta, then headed to Paris to attend the UNESCO legislation," said Head of informing and Communications Department of Transportation and Telecommunications Wakatobi, La Ode Wangiwangi IFI on Friday.
La Ode IFI explained, according to the invitation of UNESCO submitted to the Government of Wakatobi, UNESCO will submit a certificate setting world biosphere reserve Wakatobi as the Regent of Wakatobi in Paris on July 9, 2012.
"After the submission of a certificate, Wakatobi district will be the keynote speaker at a workshop on the conservation of natural resources which will last until July 12, 2012," said La Ode IFI.
UNESCO approved the establishment of the Wakatobi Marine National Park as one of 13 new biosphere reserves in the world through the International Advisory Comittee meeting for UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve Program 18th, which took place in Paris on December 2 to 4 April 2012 ago.
"There are three UNESCO-protected interest in determining TN Wakatobi as the center of biosphere reserves. Namely cultural wisdom Wakatobi community, environmental sustainability and economic interests of sustainable communities, "said La Ode IFI.
Ode IFI Lao explains, the wisdom of local cultural traditions preserved in the Wakatobi, involving the community in the cultural traditions of natural treats and take something from nature. While environmental sustainability need to be protected, because the TN Wakatobi waters of coral reefs and diverse marine life that is quite high, when compared with other regions in the world.
While the economic interests that need to be protected is, how people in the Wakatobi can manage and exploit the potential of existing natural resources in a sustainable manner, without disturbing the environmental balance.
"With the status of world biosphere reserve by UNESCO is given, then the Wakatobi is located in the center of the world's coral triangle, while this is no longer confined to the Wakatobi but belonged to the world.
